Coast to Coast on a bike (C2C)
From 24.05.2005 to 25.05.2005
In a attempt to cross the UK from west to east on our bikes we started immidiatelly after our honeymoon to paddle for England. The weather here on the Island was never supposed to be sunny and it wasn't.
We left Alia's and Anser's house on tuesday morning the 24th of may. Our plan was to catch the metro with our bikes to get to manchester railway station. Unfortunately we had to learn that bikes are not allowed on the metro in manchester, so we had to paddle to the train station and of course we missed our train to whitehaeven.

The rainy start
Because we missed our train we started our trip a bit later than planned. Luckyly the rain has stopped by that time. We took a photo of the coast and the sign (C2C, coast to coast) to prove that we started at the starting point.

Start in Whitehaeven
Soon we were on the road and had a flat tyre.

Little break

Lovely scenery
The first day ended after the incredible high Whinlater pass. It costed all our reserves to push our bikes up the road....but we tried to keep smiling...

Pushing up Whinlater
We stayed in Keswick over night and the next morning the rain surprised us....

Keswick B&B
We took our chances and hoped for a bit of sunshine, but unlucky as we were.... rain, rain, rain.

Drying to rest
We paddled to Penrith and decided not to go any further. We took the train back to Manchester because the rain was just to much and Ummuls Hinterteil was a bit tender, too. But we will be back...in better times... and the sun will be shining and the birds will be singing...

The honeymoon pictures
From 16.05.2005 - 23.05.2005
For our honeymoon we went to eastern Egypt, to Taba, a town at the red sea. We left Manchester Airport on Monday the 16th in the rain and arrived in pleasant Taba in the sunshine in the evening.

We went on a day trip to cairo. After a heroing negotiation with the taxi driver we spent several hours driving through the desert. We were rewarded with mosques and other special places.

Two days later we decided to visit Mt. Sinai. Our own personal taxi driver took us for a ride again.
